What is a good competitive moveset for Fomantis? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Sword/Shield Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Sword/Shield generation metagame.
Fomantis is a marvelous Grass-typed Pokemon. Fomantis is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Fomantis can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). Fomantis is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Fomantis (Contrary)
Fomantis is a fabulous Physical Sweeper for single battles. It's purpose is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Choice Band will increase the damage of Fomantis's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. Life Orb boosts the power of Fomantis's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Contrary, if Fomantis has a stat stage raised it is lowered instead and vice versa. Facade's damage doubles when the user has a status affliction.
◆ Seed Bomb is a physical STAB-boosted 80-base power Grass-type move that deals a considerable amount of damage.
◆ Slash is a physical 70-base power Normal-type move (high critical hit ratio).

Fomantis is pretty popular Special Sweeper for single battles. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Throat Spray activates when a Pokemon uses a sound-based move (in this case Round or Snore) and increases Fomantis's special attack stat by 2 stages. Life Orb boosts the power of Fomantis's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Contrary, if Fomantis has a stat stage raised it is lowered instead and vice versa.
