What is a good competitive moveset for Ho-oh? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Sword/Shield Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Sword/Shield generation metagame.
Ho is a fabulous Fire and Flying-typed Pokemon. Ho are common Pokemon to see in the SS metagame. Ho is considered strong enough to compete with Uber tiered Pokemon. Ho is weak to Electric, Rock, and Water-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Ho-Oh (Pressure)
Ho is an interesting Physical Sweeper for single battles. It's designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. The Shell Bell item option is to help Ho recover from the recoil damage it may take from Double-Edge, Flare Blitz and Brave Bird. With Pressure, if Ho is the target of a foe's move that move loses one additional pp. With a Charti Berry equipped to it, halves damage taken from a supereffective rock-type attack then the Charti Berry gets consumed.

◆ Flare Blitz is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Fire-type move (has 33% recoil. 10% chance to burn. Thaws Ho).

Ho is an extraordinary Special Sweeper for single battles. It attempts to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Life Orb boosts the power of Ho's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Pressure, if Ho is the target of a foe's move that move loses one additional pp. With a Charti Berry equipped to it, halves damage taken from a supereffective rock-type attack then the Charti Berry gets consumed.

Ho is a remarkable Physical Tank for double battles. This particular build was popular during recent competitions. It tries to take a substantial amount of physical hits while dealing some decent damage. Weakness Policy activates if Ho is hit by a super effective move. The Weakness Policy is consumed and its Attack and Special Attack are increased by two stages each. With Regenerator, Ho restores 1/3 of its maximum hp rounded down when it switches out.
