Chikorita is a sensational Grass-typed Pokemon. Chikorita is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokemon games. Chikorita is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Chikorita (Retro)

Chikorita is an interesting Physical Sweeper. This moveset is designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Don't forget before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Chikorita is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield without an Eviolite attached to it. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. Focus Sash helps protect Chikorita from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out.

Return is a physical 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
Body Slam is a physical 85-base power Normal-type move (30% chance to paralyze the target).
Ancient Power is a physical 60-base power Rock-type move (10% chance to raise all stats by 1 stage (not acc/eva)).
Mud-Slap is a physical 20-base power Ground-type move (100% chance to lower the target's accuracy by 1 stage).
Counter is a physical 0-base power Fighting-type move (if hit by physical attack, returns double damage).

Previously before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Chikorita is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield until Eviolite was attached to it. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. Petal Dance is a special STAB-boosted 70-base power Grass-type move (lasts 2-3 turns. confuses your Chikorita afterwards).
Solar Beam is a special STAB-boosted 120-base power Grass-type move (charges turn 1. hits turn 2. no charge in sunlight).
Synthesis is a status move (heals your Chikorita by a weather-dependent amount).
