Movesets for Singles
Looking for a competitive moveset for Gloom? These builds are optimized for Gold/Silver Single Battles. The movesets and EVs are designed to maximize damage against common opponents and threats in the Gold/Silver metagame. Check out the expert movesets below to boost your battle performance and dominate your opponents!
Gloom is here! This sick Pokémon is Grass and Poison-typed and ready to shine! Gloom is not a Pokémon anyone usually expects to see on the battlefield. It deserves to see more play in the meta. There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokémon games. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic-typed attacks. Curious about Gloom's movesets? Check our suggestions listed below!
For single battles, Gloom is a notable Special Sweeper. This moveset was created to crush rivals using potent special attacks. In the dark days before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. With a Miracle Seed equipped to it, Gloom's grass-type attacks have 1.1x power.
◆ Razor Leaf is a special STAB-boosted 55-base power Grass-type move (high critical hit ratio). ◆ Petal Dance is a special STAB-boosted 70-base power Grass-type move (lasts 2-3 turns. Confuses your Gloom afterwards). ◆ Moonlight is a status move (heals your Gloom by a weather-dependent amount). ◆ Curse is a status move (curses if ghost, else -1 spe, +1 atk, +1 def). ◆ Sleep Powder is a status move (causes the target to fall asleep).

Note: The damage listed here under Versus is not actually calculated using the in-game damage formula. It is simply calculated using typing weaknesses and resistances from the selected type-matchup modifier along with STAB (if applied) to help sort through and give a general idea as to how powerful certain moves might be towards that selected typing after modifiers are applied. Several moves listed here may have additional effects that might alter actual damage output which are not factored on this specific list. Use damage calculators to find actual damage amounts.
