Movesets for Singles

What is a good competitive moveset for Gloom? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Red/Blue Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Red/Blue generation metagame.

Gloom is a notable Grass and Poison-typed Pokemon. Gloom is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. There were no known abilities or equippable items back in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. Gloom is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic-typed attacks.

Special Sweeper Gloom (Retro)

Gloom is a spectacular Special Sweeper. It's purpose is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Gen1 meta was a totally different monster. Keep in mind back before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.

Petal Dance is a special STAB-boosted 70-base power Grass-type move (lasts 3-4 turns. confuses your Gloom afterwards).
Solar Beam is a special STAB-boosted 120-base power Grass-type move (charges turn 1. hits turn 2).
Stun Spore is a status move (paralyzes the target).
Reflect is a status move (while active, your Gloom's defense is doubled).
Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).
