Beautifly is a wonderful Special Sweeper. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. In the dark days before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Focus Sash helps protect Beautifly from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. Life Orb boosts the power of Beautifly's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Swarm, at 1/3 or less of its max hp Beautifly's bug-type attacks have 1.5x power.

Psychic is a special 90-base power Psychic-type move (10% chance to lower the target's special defense by 1 stage).
Solar Beam is a special 120-base power Grass-type move (charges turn 1. hits turn 2. no charge in sunlight).
Giga Drain is a special 60-base power Grass-type move (Beautifly recovers 50% of the damage dealt).
Thief is a special 40-base power Dark-type move (if your Beautifly has no item, it steals the target's).
