What is a good competitive moveset for Poipole? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Sword/Shield Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Sword/Shield generation metagame.
Poipole is a fabulous Poison-typed Pokemon. Poipole is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Poipole's only type-related weaknesses are Ground and Psychic.

Physical Sweeper Poipole (Beast Boost)
Poipole is a pretty decent Physical Sweeper for single battles. It's goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Choice Band will increase the damage of Poipole's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. Life Orb boosts the power of Poipole's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Beast Boost, Poipole's highest stat is raised by 1 if it attacks and koes another pokemon. Facade's damage doubles when the user has a status affliction.
◆ Facade is a physical 70-base power Normal-type move (power doubles if Poipole is burn/poison/paralyzed).
◆ Fell Stinger is a physical 50-base power Bug-type move (raises Poipole's attack by 3 if this koes the target).
◆ Pin Missile is a physical 25-base power Bug-type move (hits 2-5 times in one turn).
◆ Peck is a physical 35-base power Flying-type move that deals damage.

Poipole is an extraordinary Special Sweeper for single battles. The purpose of this moveset is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Throat Spray activates when a Pokemon uses a sound-based move (in this case Round or Snore) and boosts Poipole's special attack stat by 2 stages. Life Orb boosts the power of Poipole's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Beast Boost, Poipole's highest stat is raised by 1 if it attacks and koes another pokemon.
◆ Sludge Bomb is a special STAB-boosted 90-base power Poison-type move (30% chance to poison the target).

◆ Snore is a special 50-base power Normal-type move (Poipole must be asleep. 30% chance to flinch target).
