What is a good competitive moveset for Braixen? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the X/Y generation metagame.
Braixen is popular Fire-typed Pokemon. Braixen is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Braixen is weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-typed attacks.

Special Sweeper Braixen (Magician)
Braixen is an interesting Special Sweeper. It's designed to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Choice Specs will increase the damage of Braixen's special moves by 1.5x but will lock you into the first move you pick. Life Orb boosts the power of Braixen's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Magician, if Braixen has no item it steals the item off a pokemon it hits with an attack.
♦ Flamethrower is a special STAB-boosted 90-base power Fire-type move (10% chance to burn the target).
♦ Psychic is a special 90-base power Psychic-type move (10% chance to lower the target's special defense by 1 stage).

Braixen is an outstanding Physical Tank. It's primary goal is to take a hefty amount of physical hits while dealing some decent damage. With Magician, if Braixen has no item it steals the item off a pokemon it hits with an attack.
