Movesets for Singles

What is a good competitive moveset for Chesnaught? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the X/Y generation metagame.

Chesnaught is a pretty decent Grass and Fighting-typed Pokemon. It's pretty common to find yourself dealing with Chesnaught when battling in the 6th generation meta. Chesnaught is weak to Fairy, Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Psychic-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Chesnaught (Bulletproof)

Chesnaught is an interesting Physical Sweeper. This moveset attempts to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. White Herb will reset Chesnaught's negative stat changes once (specifically for when it uses Superpower). Life Orb boosts the power of Chesnaught's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Bulletproof, makes user immune to ballistic moves (shadow ball sludge bomb focus blast etc). Poison Jab was added to provide additional threat coverage.

Wood Hammer is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Grass-type move (has 33% recoil).
Seed Bomb is a physical STAB-boosted 80-base power Grass-type move that deals a good amount of damage.
Superpower is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Fighting-type move (lowers your Chesnaught's attack and defense by 1 stage).

Leftovers are always a great recovery option to ensure Chesnaught last longer regaining it's health every turn. With Bulletproof, makes user immune to ballistic moves (shadow ball sludge bomb focus blast etc). Spikey Shield is an amazing alternative to Protect as it deals damage if the user was supposed to be attacked by a contact move!

Spiky Shield is a status move (protects from moves. contact: loses 1/8 max hp).
Low Sweep is a physical STAB-boosted 65-base power Fighting-type move (100% chance to lower the target's speed by 1 stage).
