Movesets for Singles
Looking for a competitive moveset for Dratini? These builds are optimized for X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs are designed to maximize damage against common opponents and threats in the X/Y metagame. Check out the expert movesets below to boost your battle performance and dominate your opponents!
Dratini is here! This brilliant Pokémon is Dragon-typed and ready to shine! Dratini is not a Pokémon anyone usually expects to see on the battlefield. It can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). It is weak to Dragon, Fairy, and Ice-typed attacks. Curious about Dratini's movesets? Check our suggestions listed below!
Dratini is a phenomenal Physical Sweeper. This moveset attempts to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Flame Orb will burn Dratini at the end of the turn which will activate Dratini's Marvel Scale ability. Use Protect to help guarantee the Orb activates on your first turn. With Marvel Scale, if Dratini is statused its defense is 1.5x. Facade's damage doubles when the user has a status affliction. Combine that with Marvel Scale to seriously give Dratini a sweet boost.
♦ Outrage is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Dragon-type move (lasts 2-3 turns. confuses your Dratini afterwards). ♦ Dragon Tail is a physical STAB-boosted 60-base power Dragon-type move (forces the target to switch to a random ally). ♦ Facade is a physical 70-base power Normal-type move (power doubles if Dratini is burn/poison/paralyzed). ♦ Double-Edge is a physical 120-base power Normal-type move (has 33% recoil). ♦ Aqua Tail is a physical 90-base power Water-type move that deals a substantial amount of damage. ♦ Waterfall is a physical 80-base power Water-type move (20% chance to flinch the target). ♦ Protect is a status move (prevents moves from affecting your Dratini this turn).

It is simply calculated using typing weaknesses and resistances from the selected type-matchup modifier along with STAB (if applied) to help sort through and give a general idea as to how powerful certain moves might be towards that selected typing after modifiers are applied. Several moves listed here may have additional effects that might alter actual damage output which are not factored on this specific list. Use damage calculators to find actual damage amounts.
