What is a good competitive moveset for Torchic? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Black/White Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Black/White generation metagame.
Torchic is a stupendous Fire-typed Pokemon. Torchic is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Torchic can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). Torchic is weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Torchic (Speed Boost)
Torchic is a decent Physical Sweeper. It's goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Focus Sash helps protect Torchic from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out (usually Flame Charge to boost Torchic for the following turns). Life Orb boosts the power of Torchic's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Speed Boost, Torchic's speed is raised 1 stage at the end of each full turn on the field.
♦ Return is a physical 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
♦ Flame Charge is a physical STAB-boosted 50-base power Fire-type move (100% chance to raise your Torchic's speed by 1 stage).
♦ Night Slash is a physical 70-base power Dark-type move (high critical hit ratio).
♦ Shadow Claw is a physical 70-base power Ghost-type move (high critical hit ratio).

Torchic is a spectacular Special Sweeper. This moveset is designed to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. White Herb will reset Torchic's negative stat changes once (specifically for when it uses Overheat). Focus Sash helps protect Torchic from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. Life Orb boosts the power of Torchic's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Speed Boost, Torchic's speed is raised 1 stage at the end of each full turn on the field.
