What is a good competitive moveset for Abra? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Gold/Silver Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Gold/Silver generation metagame.
Abra is a sensational Psychic-typed Pokemon. Abra is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Abra can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokemon games. Abra is weak to Bug, Dark, and Ghost-typed attacks.
Abra is an outstanding Special Sweeper. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. In the old days prior to Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.
♦ Psychic is a special STAB-boosted 90-base power Psychic-type move (10% chance to lower the target's special defense by 1 stage). ♦ Fire Punch is a special 75-base power Fire-type move (10% chance to burn the target). ♦ Ice Punch is a special 75-base power Ice-type move (10% chance to freeze the target). ♦ Thunder Punch is a special 75-base power Electric-type move (10% chance to paralyze the target).

Note: The damage listed here under Versus is not actually calculated using the in-game damage formula. It is simply calculated using typing weaknesses and resistances from the selected type-matchup modifier along with STAB (if applied) to help sort through and give a general idea as to how powerful certain moves might be towards that selected typing after modifiers are applied. Several moves listed here may have additional effects that might alter actual damage output which are not factored on this specific list. Use damage calculators to find actual damage amounts.
