Movesets for Singles

What is a good competitive moveset for Natu? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Gold/Silver Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Gold/Silver generation metagame.

Natu is a spectacular Psychic and Flying-typed Pokemon. Natu is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokemon games. Natu is weak to Dark, Electric, Ghost, Ice, and Rock-typed attacks.

Special Sweeper Natu (Retro)

Natu is a phenomenal Special Sweeper. This moveset is designed to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Focus Sash helps protect Natu from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out.

Psychic is a special STAB-boosted 90-base power Psychic-type move (10% chance to lower the target's special defense by 1 stage).
Future Sight is a special STAB-boosted 80-base power Psychic-type move (hits two turns after being used).
Solar Beam is a special 120-base power Grass-type move (charges turn 1. hits turn 2. no charge in sunlight).
Giga Drain is a special 60-base power Grass-type move (Natu recovers 50% of the damage dealt).
Thief is a special 40-base power Dark-type move (if your Natu has no item, it steals the target's).
Detect is a status move (prevents moves from affecting your Natu this turn).
