What is a good competitive moveset for Taillow? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Sun/Moon Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Sun/Moon generation metagame.
Taillow is an awesome Normal and Flying-typed Pokemon. Taillow is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Taillow can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). Taillow is weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Taillow (Guts)
Taillow is a decent Physical Sweeper. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Flame Orb will burn Taillow at the end of the turn which will activate Taillow's Guts ability. Use Protect to help guarantee the Orb activates on your first turn. With Guts, if Taillow is statused its attack is 1.5x; ignores burn halving physical damage. Facade's damage doubles when the user has a status affliction. Combine that with Guts to seriously give Taillow a sweet boost.

♦ Brave Bird is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Flying-type move (has 33% recoil).
♦ Sky Attack is a physical STAB-boosted 140-base power Flying-type move (charges, then hits turn 2. 30% flinch. high crit).
♦ U-turn is a physical 70-base power Bug-type move (Taillow switches out after damaging the target).
♦ Protect is a status move (prevents moves from affecting your Taillow this turn).

Focus Sash helps protect Taillow from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. With Scrappy, Taillow can hit ghost types with normal- and fighting-type moves.
