What is a good competitive moveset for Bagon? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Sword/Shield Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Sword/Shield generation metagame.
Bagon is a wonderful Dragon-typed Pokemon. Bagon is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Bagon can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). Bagon is weak to Dragon, Fairy, and Ice-typed attacks.
Item: Life Orb / Choice Band
Ability: Sheer Force
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
EVs: 100 Hp / 252 Atk / 156 SpD

Physical Sweeper Bagon (Sheer Force)
Bagon is an extraordinary Physical Sweeper for single battles. The purpose of this moveset is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Choice Band will increase the damage of Bagon's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. Life Orb boosts the power of Bagon's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. However, Sheer Force negates the recoil damage from Life Orb while still increasing the damage from both it's ability and the orb making it an amazing item for Bagon. With Sheer Force, Bagon's attacks with secondary effects have 1.3x power; nullifies the effects. Brick Break or Rock Slide are added to provide additional threat coverage.
◆ Dragon Claw is a physical STAB-boosted 80-base power Dragon-type move that deals a decent amount of damage.
◆ Brick Break is a physical 75-base power Fighting-type move (destroys screens, unless the target is immune).
◆ Rock Slide is a physical 75-base power Rock-type move (30% chance to make the foes flinch).
◆ Shadow Claw is a physical 70-base power Ghost-type move (high critical hit ratio).
◆ Crunch is a physical 80-base power Dark-type move (20% chance to lower the target's defense by 1 stage).

Bagon Physical Tank (Defense)
Bagon is an extraordinary Physical Tank for single battles. It's goal is to take a decent amount of physical hits while dealing some decent damage. Bagon is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield but Eviolite changes that. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. With Rock Head, Bagon does not take recoil damage besides struggle/life orb/crash damage.
◆ Outrage is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Dragon-type move (lasts 2-3 turns. Confuses your Bagon afterwards).
◆ Rock Slide is a physical 75-base power Rock-type move (30% chance to make the foes flinch).
◆ Roar is a status move (forces the target to switch to a random ally).

Bagon is a pretty decent Physical Sweeper for single battles. The purpose of this moveset is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Bagon is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield until Eviolite was equipped. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. With Rock Head, Bagon does not take recoil damage besides struggle/life orb/crash damage.
◆ Rock Slide is a physical 75-base power Rock-type move (30% chance to make the foes flinch).
◆ Fire Blast is a special 110-base power Fire-type move (10% chance to burn the target).
◆ Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target; Note: Poison types can't miss with Toxic).
