What is a good competitive moveset for Staraptor? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the X/Y generation metagame.
Staraptor is a decent Normal and Flying-typed Pokemon. Staraptor is a pretty regular Pokemon to see in Generation 6. Staraptor is weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Staraptor (Reckless)
Staraptor is an outstanding Physical Sweeper. It's goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Focus Sash helps protect Staraptor from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. Choice Band will increase the damage of Staraptor's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. With Reckless, Staraptor's attacks with recoil or crash damage have 1.2x power; not struggle.
♦ Return is a physical STAB-boosted 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
♦ Brave Bird is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Flying-type move (has 33% recoil).
♦ Sky Attack is a physical STAB-boosted 140-base power Flying-type move (charges, then hits turn 2. 30% flinch. high crit).
♦ Close Combat is a physical 120-base power Fighting-type move (lowers your Staraptor's defense and special defense by 1 stage).
♦ Revenge is a physical 60-base power Fighting-type move (power doubles if Staraptor is damaged by the target).

Staraptor Physical Sweeper (A Star Is Born*)
Staraptor is a pretty decent Physical Sweeper. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. White Herb will reset Staraptor's negative stat changes once (specifically for when it uses Close Combat). With Intimidate, on switch-in Staraptor lowers the attack of adjacent opponents by 1 stage.

♦ Sky Attack is a physical STAB-boosted 140-base power Flying-type move (charges, then hits turn 2. 30% flinch. high crit).
