What is a good competitive moveset for Torterra? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the X/Y generation metagame.
Torterra is a wonderful Grass and Ground-typed Pokemon. It's not-uncommon to find yourself dealing with Torterra when battling in the 6th generation meta. This Pokemon deserves to see more play in the meta. Torterra is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, and Ice-typed attacks.

Torterra is a phenomenal Physical Sweeper. It is primarily designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. With Shell Armor, Torterra cannot be struck by a critical hit.

♦ Earthquake is a physical STAB-boosted 100-base power Ground-type move (hits adjacent pokemon).

Torterra is a notable Physical Tank. It was designed to take a substantial amount of physical hits while dealing some decent damage. Life Orb boosts the power of Torterra's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Overgrow, at 1/3 or less of its max hp Torterra's attacking stat is 1.5x with grass attacks.
