Walrein is a wonderful Ice and Water-typed Pokemon. It's pretty standard to see Walrein show up as a X/Y opponent. Walrein is weak to Electric, Fighting, Grass, and Rock-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Walrein (Ice Body)
Walrein is an outstanding Physical Sweeper. It's designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Choice Band will increase the damage of Walrein's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. Life Orb boosts the power of Walrein's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Ice Body, if hail is active Walrein heals 1/16 of its max hp each turn; immunity to hail. Iron Head was added to provide additional threat coverage.

♦ Iron Head is a physical 80-base power Steel-type move (30% chance to flinch the target).

Walrein is a pretty decent Special Sweeper. This moveset is designed to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. Choice Specs will increase the damage of Walrein's special moves by 1.5x but will lock you into the first move you pick. Life Orb boosts the power of Walrein's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Ice Body, if hail is active Walrein heals 1/16 of its max hp each turn; immunity to hail.
♦ Brine is a special STAB-boosted 65-base power Water-type move (power doubles if the target's hp is 50% or less).
♦ Ice Beam is a special STAB-boosted 90-base power Ice-type move (10% chance to freeze the target).

Walrein Special Tank (Beast Walrus)
Walrein is a notable Special Tank. It's meant to take a hefty amount of hits from special attacks while dealing some decent damage. With Thick Fat, fire/ice-type moves against Walrein deal damage with a halved attacking stat. Very strong with high Hp but it lacks the Speed. Surf and Ice Beam are good for it to attack with hitting Flying, Dragon, Ground, Rock, Grass, and Fire with Super effective-ness. The next 2 moves are for it's recovery. If your Walrein gets low on Hp, Rest. The Chesto Berry will wake you up, that way you can continue to fight. If this happens again, you will be forced to use that last move. Snore them while your sleeping that way you can still cause them some pain, even if it's a little.
