Clamperl is an outstanding Water-typed Pokemon. Clamperl is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Clamperl's only type-related weaknesses are Electric and Grass.

Clamperl is a fabulous Physical Sweeper. It was designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Clamperl is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield until Eviolite was equipped. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. Focus Sash helps protect Clamperl from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. Life Orb boosts the power of Clamperl's damaging moves by 1.3x but it then loses 1/10 its max HP immediately after the attack. With Rattled, Clamperl's speed is raised 1 stage if hit by a bug- dark- or ghost-type attack.

Double-Edge is a physical 120-base power Normal-type move (has 33% recoil).
Return is a physical 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
Waterfall is a physical STAB-boosted 80-base power Water-type move (20% chance to flinch the target).

Clamperl is an outstanding Special Wall. It was designed to take a good amount of hits from special attacks while dealing some decent damage. With Shell Armor, Clamperl cannot be struck by a critical hit. This Clampearl was first found by me in the Emerald Battle Factory. Whenever available, I chose it to annoy the enemy and never lost with it. Probably because the CPU wasn't as clever back then.

Iron Defense is a status move (raises your Clamperl's defense by 2 stages).
Confuse Ray is a status move (confuses the target).
Scald is a special STAB-boosted 80-base power Water-type move (30% chance to burn the target).
Double Team is a status move (raises your Clamperl's evasiveness by 1 stage).
Aqua Ring is a status move (Clamperl recovers 1/16 max hp per turn).
Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).
