What is a good competitive moveset for Drowzee? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Gold/Silver Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Gold/Silver generation metagame.


Drowzee is a decent Psychic-typed Pokemon. Drowzee is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokemon games. Drowzee is weak to Bug, Dark, and Ghost-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Drowzee (Retro)

Drowzee is a stupendous Physical Sweeper. It is primarily designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Don't forget back before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Drowzee is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield but Eviolite makes it possibly stronger than it's final form. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. Focus Sash helps protect Drowzee from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out.

Double-Edge is a physical 120-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
Return is a physical 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
Shadow Ball is a physical 80-base power Ghost-type move (20% chance to lower the target's special defense by 1 stage).
Seismic Toss is a physical 0-base power Fighting-type move (does damage equal to your Drowzee's level).
Counter is a physical 0-base power Fighting-type move (if hit by physical attack, returns double damage).
Barrier is a status move (raises your Drowzee's defense by 2 stages).

Keep in mind back before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Drowzee is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield until it was realized Eviolite would make it quite viable. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%.
