Movesets for Singles

What is a good competitive moveset for Eevee? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Red/Blue Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Red/Blue generation metagame.

Eevee is an astounding Normal-typed Pokemon. Eevee is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. There were no known abilities or equippable items back in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. Eevee's only type-related weakness is Fighting.

Physical Sweeper Eevee (Retro)

Eevee is a pretty decent Physical Sweeper. It attempts to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. From the original 151, few Pokemon could compare to Eevee at the start of the Pokemon metagame. In the dark days before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.

Double-Edge is a physical STAB-boosted 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
Body Slam is a physical STAB-boosted 85-base power Normal-type move (30% chance to paralyze the target).
Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).
Reflect is a status move (while active, your Eevee's defense is doubled).
Sand Attack is a status move (lowers the target's accuracy by 1 stage).

Special Sweeper Eevee (Retro)

Eevee is a wonderful Special Sweeper. It's purpose is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. The rules of gen-one were quite varied from today. In the dark days prior to Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.

Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).
Reflect is a status move (while active, your Eevee's defense is doubled).
Sand Attack is a status move (lowers the target's accuracy by 1 stage).
Substitute is a status move (Eevee takes 1/4 its max hp to put in a substitute).

Note: This moveset is considered Taunt bait! It is highly recommended you typically have atleast one move that does actual damage!
