Physical Sweeper Onix (Retro)
Onix is pretty popular Physical Sweeper. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Things definately worked differently in the first generation. Remember prior to Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.
♦ Dig is a physical STAB-boosted 100-base power Ground-type move (digs underground turn 1, strikes turn 2).
♦ Rock Slide is a physical STAB-boosted 75-base power Rock-type move that deals damage.
♦ Double-Edge is a physical 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
♦ Body Slam is a physical 85-base power Normal-type move (30% chance to paralyze the target).
♦ Harden is a status move (raises your Onix's defense by 1 stage).
Special Sweeper Onix (Retro)
Onix is an interesting Special Sweeper. It is designed to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. In gen one, Onix played quite differently. In the dark days before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.
♦ Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).
♦ Substitute is a status move (Onix takes 1/4 its max hp to put in a substitute).
♦ Screech is a status move (lowers the target's defense by 2 stages).
Note: This moveset is considered Taunt bait! It is highly recommended you typically have atleast one move that does actual damage!
