What is a good competitive moveset for Emboar? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the X/Y generation metagame.
Emboar is a marvelous Fire and Fighting-typed Pokemon. It's normal to see Emboar show up as a X/Y opponent. Emboar is weak to Flying, Ground, Psychic, and Water-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Emboar (Reckless)
Emboar is a decent Physical Sweeper. It's goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Focus Sash helps protect Emboar from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. Choice Band will increase the damage of Emboar's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. With Reckless, Emboar's attacks with recoil or crash damage have 1.2x power; not struggle. Sucker Punch was added to provide additional threat coverage.
♦ Fire Punch is a physical STAB-boosted 75-base power Fire-type move (10% chance to burn the target).
♦ Superpower is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Fighting-type move (lowers your Emboar's attack and defense by 1 stage).
♦ Hammer Arm is a physical STAB-boosted 100-base power Fighting-type move (lowers your Emboar's speed by 1 stage).
♦ Wild Charge is a physical 90-base power Electric-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
♦ Earthquake is a physical 100-base power Ground-type move (hits adjacent pokemon).
♦ Sucker Punch is a physical priority-increased 80-base power Dark-type move (usually goes first. fails if target is not attacking).

Emboar Physical Tank (Slide Of Bacon)
Emboar is a spectacular Physical Tank. It's designed to take a nice amount of physical hits while dealing some decent damage. Choice Band will increase the damage of Emboar's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. With Blaze, at 1/3 or less of its max hp Emboar's attacking stat is 1.5x with fire attacks.
♦ Flare Blitz is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Fire-type move (has 33% recoil. 10% chance to burn. thaws Emboar).
♦ Brick Break is a physical STAB-boosted 75-base power Fighting-type move (destroys screens, unless the target is immune).
♦ Superpower is a physical STAB-boosted 120-base power Fighting-type move (lowers your Emboar's attack and defense by 1 stage).
♦ Rock Slide is a physical 75-base power Rock-type move (30% chance to flinch the foes).
