What is a good competitive moveset for Larvesta? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in X/Y Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the X/Y generation metagame.
Larvesta is an awesome Bug and Fire-typed Pokemon. Larvesta is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. Larvesta can be quite a contender in the LC tier (Little Cup). Larvesta is weak to Flying, Rock, and Water-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Larvesta (Flame Body)
Larvesta is a remarkable Physical Sweeper. This moveset attempts to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Focus Sash helps protect Larvesta from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. With Flame Body, 30% chance a pokemon making contact with Larvesta will be burned.
♦ Flame Wheel is a physical STAB-boosted 60-base power Fire-type move (10% chance to burn the target. thaws Larvesta).
♦ Double-Edge is a physical 120-base power Normal-type move (has 33% recoil).
♦ Return is a physical 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
♦ U-turn is a physical STAB-boosted 70-base power Bug-type move (Larvesta switches out after damaging the target).
♦ Bug Bite is a physical STAB-boosted 60-base power Bug-type move (Larvesta steals and eats the target's berry).

Larvesta Physical Sweeper (Volcarona*)
Larvesta is a pretty decent Physical Sweeper. The purpose of this moveset is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Larvesta is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield without an Eviolite attached. If Eviolite is held by a Pokémon that is not fully evolved, it will raises the Defense and Special Defense of that Pokemon by 50%. With Swarm, at 1/3 or less of its max hp Larvesta's attacking stat is 1.5x with bug attacks. Larvesta s similar to Trapinch:they both have an attack stat higher or equal to their evolution(s). Larvesta has a base 80 attack, while Volcarona has only 60. Then again, Volcarona is special.
