Volbeat is a decent Physical Sweeper. It's primary goal is to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Focus Sash helps protect Volbeat from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out. Choice Band will increase the damage of Volbeat's physical moves by 1.5x at the cost of locking you into the first move you pick. With Prankster, Volbeat's non-damaging moves have their priority increased by 1. Brick Break or Ice Punch are added to provide additional threat coverage.

♦ U-turn is a physical STAB-boosted 70-base power Bug-type move (Volbeat switches out after damaging the target).

♦ Play Rough is a physical 90-base power Fairy-type move (10% chance to lower the target's attack by 1 stage).
