Stantler is a stupendous Normal-typed Pokemon. It's normal to see Stantler show up as a Gold/Silver opponent. There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokemon games. Stantler's only type-related weakness is Fighting.

Stantler is an awesome Physical Sweeper. It attempts to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Prior to Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Focus Sash helps protect Stantler from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out.

Return is a physical STAB-boosted 0-base power Normal-type move (max 102 power at maximum happiness).
Headbutt is a physical STAB-boosted 70-base power Normal-type move (30% chance to flinch the target).
Earthquake is a physical 100-base power Ground-type move (power doubles on dig).
