Movesets for Singles

What is a good competitive moveset for Beedrill? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Red/Blue Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Red/Blue generation metagame.

Beedrill is a pretty decent Bug and Poison-typed Pokemon. It's almost common to find yourself dealing with Beedrill when battling in the 1st generation meta. There were no known abilities or equippable items back in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. Beedrill is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Rock-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Beedrill (Retro)

Beedrill is an astounding Physical Sweeper. It is meant to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Gen1 meta was a totally different monster. Years before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.

Hyper Beam is a physical 150-base power Normal-type move (can't move next turn if target or sub is not koed).
Double-Edge is a physical 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
Twineedle is a physical STAB-boosted 25-base power Bug-type move (hits 2 times. last hit has 20% chance to poison).
Poison Sting is a physical STAB-boosted 15-base power Poison-type move (20% chance to poison the target).
Swords Dance is a status move (raises your Beedrill's attack by 2 stages).
