Movesets for Singles

What is a good competitive moveset for Ponyta? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Red/Blue Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Red/Blue generation metagame.

Ponyta is an interesting Fire-typed Pokemon. Ponyta is not a Pokemon anyone usually expects sees on the battlefield. There were no known abilities or equippable items back in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. Ponyta is weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-typed attacks.

Physical Sweeper Ponyta (Retro)

Double-Edge is a physical 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
Body Slam is a physical 85-base power Normal-type move (30% chance to paralyze the target).
Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).
Reflect is a status move (while active, your Ponyta's defense is doubled).
Substitute is a status move (Ponyta takes 1/4 its max hp to put in a substitute).
