Primeape is a fabulous Physical Sweeper in single battles. It's designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. The rules of gen-one were quite varied from today. Years before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.
♦ Double-Edge is a physical 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil). ♦ Body Slam is a physical 85-base power Normal-type move (30% chance to paralyze the target). ♦ Rock Slide is a physical 75-base power Rock-type move that deals damage. ♦ Low Kick is a physical STAB-boosted 50-base power Fighting-type move (30% chance to flinch the target). ♦ Seismic Toss is a physical STAB-boosted 1-base power Fighting-type move (damage = Primeape's level. Can hit ghost types). ♦ Dig is a physical 100-base power Ground-type move (digs underground turn 1, strikes turn 2).
