Clefable is a stupendous Normal-typed Pokemon. It's a normal sight to see Clefable out in the 1st generation battlefield. There were no known abilities or equippable items back in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. Clefable's only type-related weakness is Fighting.

Clefable is an astounding Physical Sweeper. It tries to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. Out of the original 151, Clefable was quite something to try to play with in the first generation meta. Prior to Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.

Hyper Beam is a physical STAB-boosted 150-base power Normal-type move (can't move next turn if target or sub is not koed).
Double-Edge is a physical STAB-boosted 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil).
Seismic Toss is a physical 1-base power Fighting-type move (damage = Clefable's level. can hit ghost types).
Counter is a physical 0-base power Fighting-type move (if hit by physical attack, returns double damage).
Defense Curl is a status move (raises your Clefable's defense by 1 stage).
Thunder Wave is a status move (paralyzes the target).
