What is a good competitive moveset for Parasect? These builds have been optimized for Pokemon competing in Red/Blue Single Battles. The movesets and EVs have been specifically calibrated to deal the most amount of damage to the largest group of potentially common opponents and typing threats for the Red/Blue generation metagame.
Parasect is an awesome Bug and Grass-typed Pokemon. It's pretty regular to find yourself dealing with Parasect when battling in the 1st generation meta. There were no known abilities or equippable items back in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. Parasect is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Rock-typed attacks.
Parasect is a pretty decent Physical Sweeper. It is primarily designed to take down the opponent's team with brute physical power. The rules of gen-one were quite varied from today. Keep in mind back before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.
♦ Hyper Beam is a physical 150-base power Normal-type move (can't move next turn if target or sub is not koed). ♦ Double-Edge is a physical 100-base power Normal-type move (has 1/4 recoil). ♦ Dig is a physical 100-base power Ground-type move (digs underground turn 1, strikes turn 2). ♦ Leech Life is a physical STAB-boosted 20-base power Bug-type move (Parasect recovers 50% of the damage dealt). ♦ Stun Spore is a status move (paralyzes the target).

Special Sweeper Parasect (Retro)
Parasect is an awesome Special Sweeper. It's purpose is to take down the opponent's team with high-damaging special attacks. In gen one, Parasect played quite differently. In the dark days prior to Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type.
♦ Solar Beam is a special STAB-boosted 120-base power Grass-type move (charges turn 1. hits turn 2). ♦ Mega Drain is a special STAB-boosted 40-base power Grass-type move (Parasect recovers 50% of the damage dealt). ♦ Stun Spore is a status move (paralyzes the target). ♦ Reflect is a status move (while active, your Parasect's defense is doubled). ♦ Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).

Note: The damage listed here under Versus is not actually calculated using the in-game damage formula. It is simply calculated using typing weaknesses and resistances from the selected type-matchup modifier along with STAB (if applied) to help sort through and give a general idea as to how powerful certain moves might be towards that selected typing after modifiers are applied. Several moves listed here may have additional effects that might alter actual damage output which are not factored on this specific list. Use damage calculators to find actual damage amounts.
