Misdreavus is a spectacular Ghost-typed Pokemon. It's a pretty standard sight to see Misdreavus out in the 2nd generation battlefield. There were no known abilities back in the Gold/Silver Pokemon games. Misdreavus's only type-related weaknesses are Dark and Ghost.

Misdreavus is an astounding Support. Previously before Generation IV, a move's damage category was determined by its type. Leftovers are always a great recovery option to ensure Misdreavus last longer regaining it's it's health points every turn.

Psychic is a special 90-base power Psychic-type move (10% chance to lower the target's special defense by 1 stage).
Rest is a status move (Misdreavus sleeps 2 turns and restores hp and status).
Confuse Ray is a status move (confuses the target).
Pain Split is a status move (shares hp of Misdreavus and target equally).
Perish Song is a status move (all active pokemon will faint in 3 turns).
Toxic is a status move (badly poisons the target).

Focus Sash helps protect Misdreavus from being one-shotted and allowing it to atleast use a crucial move when brought out.
